![]() ![]() Wordle!! players will have to take advantage of the clues given and use analysis, exclusion, and speculation to come up with answers. Each word that is guessed comes with a set of clues that are presented in the form of color-coded tiles. It challenges you to find a word through up to 6 guesses. It also gives you unlimited extra lives without having to watch an ad if you play in “standard mode” instead of “classic mode”.Wordle!! is an addictive word-guessing game. The “ad-removal” in-app purchase seemed a little steep (£4.49 in the UK), compared to other games, so I resisted for a long time… I caved and bought the Color version first, because I liked the general way of progressing in normal mode better than the b&w one, but the latter has brought in a lot more modes and advancements, so I sprung for that one too. But there are several other sizes and difficulty levels (some with a few pre-filled Xs), so it should be suitable and appealing to all levels of experience and skill with this kind of puzzle :) I love that the black and white “” version has somewhat recently added “expert” 20x20 levels, to extend the previously hardest version of 15x15 - I love the extra challenge! I make the Color version (still only 15x15 at max size) additionally challenging by often choosing not to use any of the X markers, and clearing one colour at a time before moving on to the next. They’re by far the most enjoyable to use out of all the apps I tried, with the most responsive and pleasing interactions and interface. I’ve since deleted 8 of those 10 (and I’m notoriously bad at letting go and deleting anything - digital hoarder over here - so this means I really mean business), and the only two that remain are by Easybrain - “” and “Nonogram Color”. So, if anyone here is looking for specific app recommendations for Picross/Nonogram, let me save you some time and trouble (I only use iOS, so I don’t know whether any of this applies to Android as well, apologies)! I only discovered this style of puzzle ~4 years ago, and looking at my App Store history I’ve now tried 10 different apps (might have become somewhat obsessed with them, and been unsatisfied in various ways with almost all the apps I tried…). It feels totally different to Vertex-style games though, but I think it does fall into using a similar corner of my brain, and I think people who enjoy one might enjoy the other. Though I really wish they had the option to do an in-app purchase to get rid of the ads… I’m willing to do that for almost every app that I enjoy playing (provided the cost is reasonable!) to reduce my annoyance level as well as to support the developer, and I’m actually shocked any time a developer chooses not to offer this quality-of-life improvement for the user, and easy source of revenue for them!Įither way - can’t write more, must draw triangles □□▶️□◀️□ □ĭefinitely second this! (Very belatedly, I know…) Chances are currently 50/50 whether I do that anyway… but having a dedicated app without the one-a-day limit for Vertex-style gameplay at least is definitely a good thing! I only just discovered Vertex via the NYT yesterday, and am already disappointed I can’t play past the tutorial unless I pay for the games sub. This is the thread that continues to deliver! I know it’s another 30 days since the other comment from CertainAmountOfLife, but I’ve just downloaded and only played the first level, but I like it very much so far □ Crossword Discord - Online chat for solving, construction, and all things crossword.NYT Submission Guidelines – How to submit and what not to submit to Will Shortz.Rex Parker (SPOILER ALERT) – Solution to and a review of the latest NYT puzzle.Crossword Fiend – Links to and discussion of a number of good crosswords.Wordplay – Official NYT crossword blog, aimed to help people improve their solving skills.XWordInfo – Information about the NYT puzzle, plus a search function that is incredibly useful for constructing.CrossFire – An excellent crossword creating program with a good free demo version.Puzzle Solver – Crossword-solving program for Mac or PC (for Ubuntu, sudo apt-get install xword).Puzzle Guide – Guide to and links to some good puzzles. How To Solve The NYT Crossword - Interactive tutorial covering common patterns in crossword puzzles. For cryptic crosswords, check out r/crosswords.
